Maritime specialist Abs gives his advice to anyone wanting to become and engineer

I work as an Engineering functional Manager within Maritime domain and as part of my day to day job I support the engineering activities within the organisation.
I represent Black Asian Minority and Ethnic (BAME) community within the organisation through the Race and Culture Network, I find myself more welcomed and included in every facet of the DE&S.
Having completed my Masters in Engineering, I practiced engineering for the past 11 years in various organisations across UK, initially starting as a draftsman and progress to Mechanical Engineer and learnt various technologies.
I’ve found that my passion for engineering has enabled me to connect with people beyond any cultural background.
My advice to young engineers is please choose a discipline you are passionate about and try to apply it professionally, while also preparing to expand you knowledge to accommodate any challenging situations.
